You know what I see when I log into social media?
A bunch of followers.
No, not the number of people under your Instagram or Facebook.
A bunch of followers who are following the type of people who should be questioned. They should be questioned about how they live, date, move, treat their own family, friends and others. This isn’t really about who we follow on instagram, per se.
This is about who we decide to call our idols. This isn’t an aim at actors, musicians or any celebrities of the like. I’m talking about the guru’s, advisors, life coaches, dating coaches, etc, etc. Are they really practicing what they preach on a daily basis? We really don’t have the true answer, unless we are with them 24/7. Who are they when the spotlight is dimmed for the day? As a society, we are all guilty (including me) of being distracted by their noise. Whether it’s their house, cars, clothes, slang/certain wordplay they use, filters, their travels, etc.
I understand we need to have some type of escape from the chaos that is being thrown in our faces on the daily. I get that. I truly do. On the flip side, we tend to put a lot of emphasis on these people, and then end up disappointed when they don’t end up who they claim to be. This is where the questioning should take place. Are they truly for us? Or are they in it for themselves? I could also use the Red Pill community as an example too. Spewing out bitter, poisonous “advice” on women, how to date and how to treat women. Then you come to find out that those same “guru’s” are doing the EXACT thing they put their nose up at. It’s maddening, surreal and somewhat hilarious all at the same time.
The point of this article is that there’s a TON of filters out here. It’s our job to find out who’s not only matching their words with their actions/daily life, but who’s also consistent in their messaging. We need more true, real, authentic leaders out here. Not “influencers” or celebs of the like.
I know there’s an old saying “never put anyone on a pedestal” or “never meet your heroes”. I think now there should be another quote added:
Are we being informed? Or are we just following?
