THE BLOG OF DRU #13: DATING ISN’T HARD: YOU JUST SUCK

Okay, I’ll confess. The title to this article was a bit of a…click bait.

Dating IS hard. For men and for women.

But the true question is: why?

Why is it so much harder nowadays to find a decent person to call your person?

I will say that both sides of the coin take the blame. There’s a lot of shitty ass men, and the other way around with women. There is no such thing as a one sided ordeal in this case, no matter how you try to paint the picture. Both sides deserve as much blame as the other. The rise of the so-called Alpha Males/Manosphere and the weirdos who follow them, are part of a major problem. They’re following these “role models” who teach them to be THEE biggest pieces of shits ever known to mankind. Behavior examples include: verbal abuse (just look at the comment section of a woman working out or just out and about), threaten to rape them/acts of violence, the entitlement of thinking women owes them a conversation, date or sex, just because they’re “nice” to them, following them in public. The list goes on and on, but I believe you guys get the point. And we can’t just blame the younger crowd. It’s men in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and even 60’s(!). This type of energy and mindset carries over into different generations. Again, if you don’t believe me, I can show you countless of videos I’ve researched on this type of actions towards women. And we can see why women are very much not into dating, or struggle to find a man they can be open and comfortable with. And I can’t blame them whatsoever. Women now have to have an extra pair of eyes in the back of their head because a lot of men can’t take rejection, which in turn, will make some men act out of their minds.

Wild, right? Rejection just means a different direction. Not the end of the world. But some men today are too weak and pathetic to understand that because once again, entitlement runs deep in today’s world as a whole, not just in dating.

Now with the men out the way, let’s now talk about the women.

Some women today rely too much on social media. It’s nearly embarrassing to see how some women want to compare their lives to celebs. How they listen to other miserable, single women and believe that they should be dating men that look like this, or speak or dress like that. Some women today don’t believe in the mythical coffee dates as a first one (Side note: I went on a coffee date with a lovely woman, an artist with a solid career. She might be reading this and if so, beautiful. And we are heading towards a second date. But yes ladies, keep believing that coffee or park dates are “low value/effort”. You’re only hurting yourself and your chances of meeting a good man) or they need to think the man needs to spend hundreds of dollars on the first date in order for them to like them when in all reality, they want the high end dinners only for them to take pics of their dinner plates. They’re not there to really get to know the man, only to stunt for the “Gram”, as the kids say nowadays. Some women today think that just showing up and breathing is enough in dating, let alone in a relationship. The entitlement also reeks on this side of the coin, just like with the men I mentioned earlier on. And once again, I could go on and on, and on and on. (And don’t get me started on the “We Hate Men” weirdos out here. Y’all are just as bad, terrible, and toxic as the manosphere men who hate women)

Not only are both sides suffering and self sabotaging in person, but the wave of shitty behavior is running wild to online dating as well. The prompts, the pictures (there’s stories about how some are using AI for pics?!) the type of messages. You can look at how online dating has stagnated the ability to have a conversation in person. Meaning, the ability to speak about anything with some form of substance is dramatically decreasing as the days go by.

What’s the solution to all of this madness and mess? Well, the answer is always therapy. And while that is always a great choice, there is a deeper issue regarding men and women. The lack of self awareness is appalling on both sides. And I will say this with full confidence that my dating life currently is at its healthiest it’s ever been. It’s not perfect, but it’s far greater than ever in the past because I decided to sit myself down and heal in the areas that needed healing, as well as having the uneasy conversations to myself. Taking time away from dating was a great choice for me.

A lot of people really need to look at the mirror and realize that maybe the dating landscape doesn’t suck. Maybe the apps are not “rigged” to be against you.

Maybe, just maybe, the problem is: you.
